For
more than nine years, the annual Celebration of Women, through
our annual Women Making A DifferenceSM awards program has
grown in its purpose, significance to the community and
attendance. The program's continued success is attributed
to the support it has received from sponsors such as «Company»
who have recognized that reaching a diverse audience in
both profession and background is essential to their overall
marketing initiatives. The success of Women Making A Difference
is equal only to the potential that lies ahead and the significant
support it has garnered.
“Women Making A Difference” was started to salute
extraordinary women who have made a difference in their
chosen field of endeavor. This is my signature event that
coincides with the annual celebration of Women’s History
Month, which in 1999, was adopted from a fundraiser given
on my behalf. Under my leadership and the stewardship of
an active steering committee, this effort has developed
into an event designed to provide substantive information
that benefits women from all walks of life, most especially
women executives and entrepreneurs.
I am extremely happy to say that Women Making A Difference,
Inc. has grown over the last nine years into a vehicle that
benefits local nonprofit organizations that support women,
arts education and youth programs. These are the areas that
remain the centerpiece of my legislative work here in City
Council. In addition to the recognition of selected beneficiaries
during the luncheon, Women Making A Difference, Inc.SM supports
hundreds of organizations throughout the year.
Thank you for your continued support
Honorable Blondell Reynolds Brown
